How to style your console table: Our guide

Adding a console table is the perfect way to upgrade your hallway to the next level with no effort at all!

A well-decorated console table can add a real wow factor to any space in your home. Console tables can also help transform a hallway from an empty throughway to a practical space with storage.

They can make use of empty space behind sofas, under lower staircases or on landings at the top of the stairs. These uses go beyond the practical, as they can also be used to show off your personality and inject this into a space.

Here are some of our top tips and advice on how to use a console table to upgrade your space effortlessly!

Give a space some life - use a console table as a stand for colourful floral features. By adding a big vase with flowers or a few different sizes of plants, you can introduce some colour and life to a space without taking up room on the floor. This way your plants will always be at eye level.

Make a console table personal - add a nice frame with a picture of your house members to give you something to smile at every time you pass the console table.

Create a focal point in a space - you can do this by adding a piece of eye-catching artwork or a big round mirror to reflect light and make a space feel bigger.

Add a decorative touch - by adding a table lamp or a selection of different sized candles, a nice decorative piece can be a conversation starter, as well as an alternate light source to ceiling lights in a room or space.

Don’t forget about the space under the console table - add some texture underneath a console table by adding a bench or a couple of pouffes or footstools to sit on when putting on or removing shoes.

Make it practical - by adding baskets underneath a console table or some storage units, you can utilise this empty space for additional storage space for magazines/shoes/hats and gloves. This could also serve as a neat little place for your little ones to leave their things for school.

Live with it as part of the house - try adding some books or magazines or even a nice tray to put your post on or store keys, wallets and glasses. Any of the little knick-knacks that don't have a home in your house could find a great place to live in or on a console table.
